Take a visual journey across the Carrizo Plain National Monument with writer and photographer Chuck Graham. Graham has been photographing the last of California’s semi-arid grasslands for the past 17 years and is passionate about its landscapes and the flora and fauna that inhabit this unique grassland biome.
Chuck Graham is a freelance writer and photographer based in Carpinteria. He’s been a beach lifeguard there for 30 years and has led kayak tours at Channel Islands National Park since 1998. His work has been published in Backpacker, BBC Wildlife Magazine, National Geographic, Men’s Journal, Natural History, American Forests, and High Country News. His award-winning book, Carrizo Plain, Where the Mountains Meet the Grasslands, was released in January 2021. His second book, Hike the Channel Islands, was co-authored with John McKinney, and was released in Spring 2022.
