On Tuesday, April 19th, at 4pm, the UCSB Library presents a Pacific Views Series Talk by Roland Geyer, Professor of Industrial Ecology. This event is free and open to the public. If you are unable to attend in person, this event will be live-streamed on the UCSB Library Facebook page so you can watch along with us.
Since its inception thirty years ago, environmental sustainability has been based on the concepts of “eco-efficiency” and “win-win”. Despite countless eco-efficiency and win-win efforts across the world, the state of the natural environment has further degraded instead of improved. This talk first explains why our current approach to environmental sustainability was doomed to fail and then introduces a new set of principles that together provide a road map, for businesses and for households, to a world in which human prosperity and a healthy environment are no longer at odds.
Roland Geyer is Professor of Industrial Ecology at UCSB’s Bren School of Environmental Science and Management. His work has been covered widely in the media, including worldwide appearances on radio and television shows. Learn more about Roland, his work, and its impact at www.rolandgeyer.com.
Co-sponsored with the Community Environmental Council and in conjunction with Santa Barbara Earth Day 2022.
