Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB) is now accepting applications for passionate and creative high school students to join our Teen Arts Collective (TAC) for 2020-2021! COVID-19 presented new challenges to all of us, and MCASB has been hard at work reimagining our programming for a socially-distanced world. In a time of virtual overload and draining screen time for students, it is now more important than ever to explore and develop their artistic channels. We believe that TAC can provide a creative and expressive outlet to support the well-being and personal growth of Santa Barbara’s teens during this challenging time.
MCASB’s Teen Arts Collective is a hands-on program that makes the contemporary art world accessible for Santa Barbara teens who are passionate about the arts and want to develop leadership skills, build visual literacy, and gain real-life experience in the art world! This virtual iteration of TAC will consist of 20 weekly, group meetings via Zoom. Throughout the program, TAC members will have the opportunity to meet and discuss with local artists and arts professionals, and begin to grow their creative network in Santa Barbara. TAC will meet via Zoom on Tuesdays, 4-5:15 pm, from December 1, 2020 until May 4, 2021.
As a member of the Teen Arts Collective, participants will:
Qualify for 40+ verified community service hours.
Meet with locally and internationally acclaimed leaders in the arts
Explore 10+ artistic disciplines
Plan and curate a culminating project of their own work that will be streamed live
Receive a stipend
Completed applications are due by November 27th to engagement@mcasantabarbara.org
