San Marcos High School’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Club organizes two school blood drives annually.
This year our December drive was one of the school’s most successful. We collected 52 units of blood, which could have saved up to 156 lives! But due to many disasters nationwide, we are currently in a blood demand crisis!
That means that it is our duty as humans to give what we can to help those in need. HOSA students have partnered with Vitalant to expand their May drive into a two-day community event. Friday May 3 will be for San Marcos High School students in the bloodmobile from 8:30-2:00. And on Saturday, they will open the San Marcos High School Gym to the public and host HOSA’s first community blood drive!
Twisting the “May the Fourth be With You” Star Wars day, the blood drive is themed “May the Blood be With You.” The day has the potential to save hundreds of more lives. You can make an appointment online by going to bloodhero.com. In celebration of heroism and community, come give life saving blood along with the ambitious HOSA students and the dedicated employees of Vitalant. After all, you don’t need to be a jedi to be a hero. You just need to give blood.
