Jars and drawers filled with once living things may seem odd at first glance, but these specimens are representatives of the history of life on Earth. Beyond the dioramas and exhibits of natural history museums lies the world of natural history collections, often unknown to the general public. Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Invertebrate Zoology Collection Manager Vanessa Delnavaz, M.A., will shed light on these biological collections that help us understand the biodiversity of life, and explain why our knowledge of it is so critical. This free lecture will take place at Dargan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant in Santa Barbara.
