Any member of the community over 10 years of age is invited to attend the Adult “HeartSaver” CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) class at Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (SYVCH) on Monday, July 9, 2018, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The training will be held in the front conference room of the hospital located at 2050 Viborg Road in Solvang. Based on American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines for the lay public, the class is led by Tina Collins, RN, MSN, ICCE, with the Cottage Health Education Department. Collins has worked in patient education with Cottage Health for more than 30 years and has extensive knowledge of these critical life skills. “Come and learn how to be a heart saver. What you learn in three hours could make a real difference in someone’s life,” Collins said.
Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital’s Adult “HeartSaver” class covers CPR as well as FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) plus instruction of the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on anyone over the age of eight years old. Attendees will also learn the links in the AHA “Chain of Survival,” including the importance of dialing 9-1-1. This class is appropriate for non-professional caregivers and any lay person who wants to learn these skills. Participants will receive a course completion card upon successfully finishing the class.
The class fee is $25.00 per person and pre-registration is required by July 3, 2018. Participants must be over 10 years of age. Please register in advance online or visiting https://www.cottagehealth.org/
