Everyone is invited to our annual Japanese Obon Festival. There will be activities throughout the day for all ages which include Japanese folk dancing, Japanese taiko drumming, hula dance, karate demonstration, sanshin (Japanese stringed instrument) performance, bonsai (miniature tree) exhibition, Japanese craft sale, games, face painting, origami(Japanese paper folding activity), and ikebana (Japanese floral arrangement). If you would like to dance for the festival you may come to dance practices every Sunday (with the exception of Father’s Day, June 16) from 2:00-3:30 pm at the Buddhist Church of Santa Barbara. No experience is necessary (the dances are simple) and no dance partner is required (we dance in a circle).
