An inspiring convocation ceremony opens the Providence 2017-2018 school year on Tuesday evening, August 22. Classes begin for preschool-high school students the following morning.
Convocation (Latin for “calling together”) is a formal service, both academic and spiritual, officially launching the new school year. During the convocation service the Providence community thanks God for His providential care and asks for His blessing and guidance for the year ahead. They also enjoy welcoming all the new students, faculty, and families to the Providence community.
This event features short, inspiring charges from the Head of School, Dr. Scott Lisea; the student Head Prefect, Megan Varchetto; and three Upper School faculty members, Mr. Nate Alker, Mr. Max Beers, and Ms. Carri Svoboda.
The Convocation takes place 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 22, at the First United Methodist Church (305 East Anapamu Street). It is open to all who would like to attend.
