wall space creative and Jim Stoicheff join forces with Los Padres ForestWatch to support their legal efforts to protect the Carrizo Plain from environmental disaster and exploitation. Photographer Jim Stoicheff has documented the stunning beauty and pristine wildness of the Carrizo Plain for the last three years and his vibrant work is on the walls of the Shops @ Waterline in support of and showcasing the need for the plain’s protection from exploitation through new drilling. This single action opens the door to future gas and mineral exploration within the monuments boundaries, potentially leading to significant reductions in wildlife populations and destruction of habitat.
Help us support Los Padres ForestWatch’s legal efforts to fight the Department of the Interior and Bureau of Land Management to protect this wild space that draws thousands of people each year.
On the evening of Thursday July 19th from 6 – 8pm, please join us at the Waterline. The shops at the Waterline will be donating a portion of all sales proceeds to Los Padres ForestWatch. Jim Stoicheff has offered a limited edition print in support of LPFW. With a donation of $100, a print limited to an edition of 50, sized 8.5×11 is the perfect reminder of the beauty and tranquility of the plains. For a donation of $1,000, an 11×17 photograph can support the organization and be a visual reminder of your commitment to supporting wildlife and wildness. All donations are tax deductible as allowed by federal and state law. A portion of proceeds from any sales of the Stoicheff framed prints available at wall space will also be donated to LPFW.
Jim Stoicheff is a Santa Barbara based photographer with his lens trained on the Carrizo Plain. From His artist statement, “The plain that has existed for millions of years is a different plain each time I visit. Flowers fade, washes appear, pavement crumbles, antique farm equipment rusts, cattle dung dots swaths, bullet holes riddle old water tanks, gates block previously open roads, fences disappear. And I am a different me each time I visit. Change is the only constant”.
Los Padres ForestWatch is a nonprofit land and wildlife conservation organization that works to protect the Los Padres National Forest, Carrizo Plain National Monument, and other public lands along California’s central coast.
wall space creative is Santa Barbara’s premiere destination on the Central Coast for the best in contemporary fine art photography.
Shops @ Waterline is a vibrant collection of individual studios and a shared common space in which a group of carefully selected artists, makers, and skilled crafts-people can design, create and sell their goods.
