Local UC Berkeley Community Hosts Free Talk on Housing Development in Santa Barbara on October 23 at Impact Hub
Dr. Gregory Morrow, an expert in the field of sustainable urban development from UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design, will be in Santa Barbara Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 to talk about economic vitality and addressing the local housing crisis while preserving Santa Barbara’s urban character.
The free event is at 5:30 p.m. at Impact Hub, 1117 State Street, Santa Barbara. In addition to Dr. Morrow’s talk there will be a panel of community and business leaders who will comment and answer questions after Morrow’s presentation. Panelists include Senior Assistant to the City Administrator Nina Johnson, Historic Landmarks Commissioner Anthony Grumbine, Planning Commissioner John Campanella, and developer Peter Lewis.
Organized by the UC Berkeley Community of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, the program celebrates the upcoming 60th anniversary of the formation of UC Berkeley’s architectural program into the Center of Environmental Design.
Event supporters include the City of Santa Barbara, County of Santa Barbara, Appleton Partners LLP, Santa Barbara Independent, DMHA Architecture, RRM Design Group, Hayward Lumber, Coastal Housing Coalition, TVSB Channel 17, AIA Santa Barbara, and Impact Hub Santa Barbara.
An internationally acclaimed thought leader, Morrow is currently the Executive Director of UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design. He earned a Master’s degree in Real Estate Development and Design and a Ph.D. in urban planning.
