Kids Helping Kids Foundation started as a penny drive in 2002, but is an official 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, entirely student-run by the Advanced Placement Economics students at San Marcos High School. The students believe in one common passion: learning is best by doing, and doing is best in the service of others. KHK is proud to serve disadvantaged youth both locally and globally. Locally, we are proud partners with the Turner Foundation’s Village and Lighthouse, which are low income housing developments on the westside of Santa Barbara. Our students visit weekly to tutor and mentor the kids who live there. Globally, we are partners with Bombay Teen Challenge, where we help rescue women and children from sex slavery in Mumbai’s red light district and provide them with a safe place to live, education and proper medical care.
