As part of the Museum’s continuing series of performance and dance, Vanessa Agle Isaac, dancer, choreographer, and Director of the Vanessa Isaac Dance Company, will perform in the Museum galleries with members of her company and musicians from the Santa Barbara Symphony. Symphony musicians include pianist, Natasha Kislenko and associate principal cellist, Jonathan Flaksman.
Embodying the fluidity of movement and music across cultures and time, this performance explores the links between the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and the later response by Heitor Villa-Lobos, incorporating the rhythms of his native Brazil. These connections and contrasts are further embodied in the combining of contemporary choreography with classical composition.
