Can California condors be comical? Do gorillas generate guffaws? And what’s so funny about a monkey’s uncle?
Find out at IMPROVology, the Santa Barbara Zoo’s science-meets-comedy show, which has outgrown its nest and flown the coop, landing at the Lobero Theatre.
Animal experts tell stories from their adventures in the wild, then LA’s Impro Theatre use these stories as fuel for side-splitting skits, songs, and silliness created on the spot. Think TED Talks meets Whose Line Is It Anyway. But about condors and gorillas.
Local pianist Konrad Kono provides the mood music with Dr. Michael Schindlinger (past expert: wild parrot languages) on bass. Celebrity judges award points to each team. It’s family-friendly fun, with audience participation encouraged.
