The next meeting of the Santa Barbara Rose Society is on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 7 – 9 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 909 N La Cumbre Road at Foothill in Santa Barbara. Our topic is “Good, rich soil is the secret!” The charismatic and knowledgeable horticultural specialist Gisele Schoniger, who represents Kellogg Garden Products, will be our special guest speaker. A graduate in Ornamental Horticulture from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Gisele is an entertaining presenter who will share tips on how to grow the healthiest, most beautiful roses possible.
She will also be bringing some product samples to share with attendees so this is a meeting you won’t want to miss! The meeting will also include refreshments, a book exchange and raffle.
Gisele says, “If you’ve heard that a successful garden starts with good soil, you’ve been given good advice! Soil is a complex ecosystem, which supports all life on earth. But what is ‘good’ soil and how do you know if you have it?”
In her 38 years in the Gardening field, Gisele has accumulated a wide range of experience and knowledge. She has owned an Interiorscape company, worked for the State Department of Agriculture, practiced as a horticultural therapist and launched an outstanding sales career by helping establish top-selling organic gardening products.
Santa Barbara Rose Society meetings are FREE. We invite everyone to come at 7 pm to socialize and sample our refreshments before the 7:15 Little Rose Show and 7:30 pm speaker presentation. Our motto is “Come for the Roses; Stay for the Friends.”
Guests are welcome! If you grow roses, please bring your cut roses to show off and any rose plants you would like to share. We also welcome goodies for our refreshments table and items for our fun raffle.
