Is Your Child’s Seat Installed Correctly? Many parents are unaware that four out of five child passenger safety seats (80 percent) are installed or adjusted incorrectly. Cottage Health’s free Child Car Seat Safety Class will help moms, dads and others who drive with children learn how to keep kids safe while inside vehicles.
All parents are encouraged to have their child seats inspected by our safety experts to ensure they are correctly installed. California state laws require children less than 2 years old be rear facing unless they weigh 40 pounds or more or are at least 40 inches tall. Also, children under 8 years old must be buckled into a car seat or a booster in the back seat. Only children who are at least 8 years old and 57 inches tall or taller can ride in the back seat without a booster.
Advance registration is required for the class. Go to www.cottagehealth.org/carseatsafety.
