Don Carlos up next for “Evenings at Elings”
A family-friendly reggae music series at Elings Park
The third installment of “Evenings at Elings” will feature reggae legend Don Carlos on Friday, September 17th at Elings Park in Santa Barbara.
Friday nights in Santa Barbara just got better! En Fuego Events started “Evenings at Elings,” a monthly reggae music series that focuses on bringing Reggae Legends back to Santa Barbara. Legends Pato Banton and Mykal Rose have already graced the stage, and Don Carlos is next.
Hosted at Elings Park, and benefitting the Elings Park Foundation, “Evenings at Elings” is a family-friendly reggae music series that looks to bring the community together at a beautiful setting.
Guests can bring out their blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the sun going down over Santa Barbara. Firestone Walker Brewing Co. and Cali Squeeze seltzer are available for purchase, and food trucks are on site.
“For me, the magic is all about two words: kids free,” said Elings Park Executive Director Dean Noble. “Evenings at Elings is the perfect way for families to relax on the grass and enjoy music while the sun sets.”
Also joining Don Carlos on stage will be Santa Barbara’s Cornerstone Reggae, The Free Love Project and DJ Marco.
Early Bird Tickets are just $35 and kids under 12 are always free! Tickets are available at EveningsatElings.com. Tickets at the door will be $45. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and music begins at 5:30 p.m.
From 1989 to 1994 Don Carlos was the lead vocalist for Black Uhuru. Don sings about peace and love, generosity, and righteousness.
During the 80s dance hall mania, Don Carlos had 5 Top 10 hits, Late Night Blues, Nice Time Tonight, Dice Cup, Hog & Goat, I’m Not Getting Crazy and Spread Out. Don is still churning out solid, melodic roots reggae.
“We are so excited to be able to create a new platform in Santa Barbara for the reggae legends to come back and share their positive music,” said Andres Nuño, event organizer and co-owner of En Fuego Events. “Elings Park creates a perfect backdrop, and large space that provides families and friends to sprawl out. Parents enjoyed being able to have a safe place for their children to have fun, while getting to spend some adult time out.”
