Certified American Grown’s Field to Vase Dinner Tour
Comes to California’s Central Coast
Ocean Breeze Farms, a family-owned flower farm in Arroyo Grande, CA to host upcoming dinner
ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. (July 22, 2022) – The Field to Vase dinner series, hosted by Certified American Grown, brings its second stop of 2022 to the beautiful Central Coast of California in Arroyo Grande. The dinner will take place amongst the flowers at Ocean Breeze Farms on Saturday, August 6, 2022.
Now in its eighth season, the award-winning farm-to-table style dinner tour invites guests at various locations around the country to dine among the exquisite fields of America’s most stunning flower and foliage farms.
Guests will be tantalized by the bold, bright colors of gerbera daisies grown in the glass greenhouse at Ocean Breeze Farms. Seated at long community tables, attendees will enjoy locally-sourced cuisine prepared by recognized Chef Jeff Olsson, owner of Industrial Eats and New West Catering, paired with local beer and wines to further celebrate domestically produced products. Visual inspiration in floral design will be provided by renowned American floral designer Kelly Shore of Petals by the Shore. Further enhancing the experience, guests will have the opportunity to meet and enjoy stories directly from the flower farmers at Ocean Breeze, the floral designer, chef and others involved in bringing this dinner to life.
“The Central Coast of California is home to many cut flower and foliage farms, and it is a wonderful place to host this celebration,” says Camron King, CEO of Certified American Grown. “Our dinner series is a unique immersive experience where guests have the chance to enjoy a beautiful evening with gorgeous flowers, great food, and an opportunity to build community in supporting our domestic cut flower and foliage farming community.”
Ocean Breeze Farms has a rich farming heritage and was started in 1973 by Rene Van Wingerden. In the early years, Ocean Breeze grew chrysanthemums and roses, which are no longer grown by the company due to unbalanced pressure from imported flowers. The operation now focuses on gerbera daisies and Oriental lilies in its operations in Carpinteria, Nipomo and Arroyo Grande. Flowers are distributed nationwide through its wholesale customers and can be found in markets and retail outlets. The cool Arroyo Grande nights and mild days are perfect for excellent flower quality with increased stem length and bloom size.
In addition to the dinner, attendees looking to learn more about the dedication and science behind growing flowers, can enjoy a VIP Tour hosted by farmer and co-owner Ivor Van Wingerden. The hour-long tour of the farm and its operations is available to purchase as an add-on to the dinner in limited quantities.
The Field to Vase Arroyo Grande dinner takes place on August 6, 2022, from 5 to 8 p.m. and tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite. These special floral-infused destination dinners sell out quickly. Seating and tickets are limited.
