In celebration of Latinx Heritage Month, Santa Barbara City College presents “Courageous Conversations for Outrageous Times.” The second event in the series is the 2019: Chican@ Time Conference, “500 years of Tenochtitlan and 50 years of Chicana/o Studies,” Saturday September 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the BC Forum. This conference will connect the themes of being ancient and simultaneously modern. Scholars, artists and activists will present what the discipline of Chicana/o Studies is and introduce their research to students. This event will highlight the connections of Tenochtitlan and Chicanas/os, Latinos/as in the U.S and beyond.
