Bring a Picnic to Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden

May 13, 2018 @ 9:00 am PDT

The perfect day – the beauty of California just minutes from downtown. The spectacular California wildflower Meadow of bright orange poppies, yellow lupine, the statuesque grandeur of the redwood grove, or a view of the ocean across giant coreopsis and other Channel Island plants at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden makes for the perfect backdrop for Mother’s Day. On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018 Garden visitors are encouraged to explore the Garden with their loved ones and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in one of the Garden’s six picnic areas. The Garden is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and is located at 1212 Mission Canyon Road, Santa Barbara, Calif., 93105. Picnic tables are located throughout the Garden including on the Pritzlaff Conservation Center Island View Deck overlooking the Channel Islands, on the Garden’s Porter and Campbell Trails, and in the Garden’s Meadow Oaks. A special map will be available to guests looking for an area to picnic.

“Mother’s Day is the perfect day to enjoy the Garden in bloom,” said Steve Windhager, Ph.D., Santa Barbara Botanic Garden Executive Director. “We hope families of all sizes will enjoy a picnic in the company of our beautiful, naturalistic gardens, created entirely with California native plants.”

Special programming for Mother’s Day includes a photographer onsite from 10 a.m.-noon to take photos of visitors who wish to have their portraits taken. Photos will be available for purchase. The Garden Shop will also be offering a 25% discount on featured Mother’s Day items including jewelry and skincare products.
