The Goat Lady’s Son and the Child Gladiators of Isla Vista by J.C. Scales offers an unapologetic and utterly hilarious glimpse at the underbelly of Santa Barbara’s otherwise pristine veneer. In this series of short stories, Scales narrates the outrageous and raw California beach life of the 80’s and 90’s, that existed “back when you didn’t have cell phone video and YouTube to let the world know how crazy it is around you.”
Scales will be reading excerpts from the book at The Brewhouse, 229 W. Montecito Street @ 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 21st.
Justin Scales is a stand-up comedian and has headlined over 200 comedy shows. He is a former movie reviewer for Live 105, and was the first stand-up comedian in history to achieve residency in the long running mega-show Tourettes Without Regrets.
