Parking Fee Changes in Santa Barbara Undergo Deep Review by Finance Committee
The garages will be over stressed and the lots will become a stepchild, unless the garage and streets have no space. The garages would have tons of cars going ring around the May poll looking for a space with dangerous high levels of exhaust particles. I just calculated the cost of parking in the three venues for two hours. These change recommendation's were thought up in La La Land! Garage $2.00 Lot $10.50 ( Four hours in the lots would be $22.50.) Street $5.25.

No kidding. The typical “fair food” is absolute garbage, especially for kids.

No one is advocating for taking away your rights. Common sense gun laws (eg, rigorous universal background checks, banning certain types of guns, additional locking/safeguarding requirements, etc) are not "taking your guns away" nor are they counter to the 2A. Like the 1st Amendment, gun ownership is not an absolute right. Restrictions can be made so as to avoid the death and carnage we see every day in this country caused by guns. Unfortunately, any meaningful attempts to do so are shot down (no pun intended) by the NRA and other pro-gun lobbyists. No one wants your handguns or shotguns. Keep em. I have one too. BUT.... it should be EXTREMELY difficult to buy one. Certain types should not be allowed for civilian use. Safeguarding guns should be required and any negligence in this regard should be strictly punished. The goal is to keep criminals from getting their hands on our guns. If you're mentally fit and not a criminal and agree to lock up your guns securely, then great! Go get all the guns you can buy. But first, we need to stop the misinformation and paranoia and make an effort to truly care about our community's safety.

Not all criminals "obtain the guns illegally," nor did I say that. At least with most of the mass shootings we've seen recently, the guns were obtained LEGALLY and then used to commit mass death.
Santa Barbara Hotel Tax 4.2% Under Budget for this Year
CHALF - can you explain, sincerely, how allowing cars on State street again will improve business? Honestly asking what the rationale is. "Studies show there is a 90% failure rate on closed street promenades. " - Can you please cite those studies? I'm interested to see why more pedestrian access to storefronts causes businesses to fail.

Wow. Take a breath. Regardless of what the founders envisioned 300 years ago, the basic right is to be able to defend yourself and family. Just because a few choose to abuse the laws and rights they are given, does not equal taking away the rights of the many who obey the law.

Great point, SBSURFER. I wonder if there are certain exclusive "fair vendors?" Doesn't seem right to not include more local vendors in a "Santa Barbara Fair & Expo." We have so many amazing food trucks and restaurants that I'd much rather see there than the deep fried fair stuff they have each year.

Yes, yes it is.

Is this the same group of doofusses that are putting Islands in the middle of the streets so you can't continue through the street? remember the little mini roundabout on Valerio and maybe Olive I think that's the one where the firetrucks couldn't get around spent lots of money and next thing you know that's gone and I think a couple others are gone .It's kind of strange how they can't budget they're spending whatsoever, but they sure can budget the increases what water , sewer, trash rates will be at a year from now or two years from now. all city departments should take a crash course on budgeting and if they can't budget, they're out get a replacement We definitely would have a huge shortage of city employees at that point

The City council as is, minus Guiterez and Rouse, will continue to hurt Hotel tax revenue, as they will never relent on their stand on returning vehicles on State St. Their green energy anti automobile agenda will always trump State Street business success in these councilmen's minds. The bikes and walking for 9 blocks is NOT working. Why the intransigence on bringing back vehicles for economic reasons. Studies show there is a 90% failure rate on closed street promenades. Hopefully they will renege and bring back the excitement and vitality to State Street with opening the Street. plus, anyone who has seen before and after closure pics will also want the beauty of State Street has suffered. I, as a continually returning tourist who loves SB, and especially State Street, will always continue to support the businesses on State Street. Joes Cafe, Olio Pizzeria, The Fishhouse, the Wharf, is just too wonderful to ever discontinue no matter what the future holds.
Santa Barbara Foresters Temporarily Relocate to Santa Barbara High School for 2024 Season
Really? Of all the local baseball fields, SBHS may be the oldest, but it also has the least spectator capacity and parking of them all. JV pre-season games fill the stands at SB. No disrespect meant at all, but that's going to be tough to try to cram the fans, food trucks, concessions (no more beer?) and merch tables all in that already tiny space. I'll still be at the games of course, but I sure will miss walking over a block to the beach after the 4th of July game! 'Stir it up!

Everyone here has already said what I was going to say. This is a really dumb idea given prices were just raised and they're already phasing out workers in the booth for the automated machines. Work on the root of the issue first, getting locals to spend time downtown.

Thank you for supporting our local teachers! I always wondered why the local fair doesn't have local businesses in their food court. A real missed opportunity to be inclusive to Santa Barbara-based businesses.

Go Foresters! This will be much more comfortable for the fans. Looking forward to the games.

Who are the "employees" who will be getting such a break on parking fees? If they are the restaurant and (few) retail workers, then, yes, that would be helpful! If they are government, city and county, staff workers, then NO!!! Not that they are not valued - they are! - but they already are highly-paid with phenomenal benefits, excellent health coverage, short work weeks, and more! Much more so than workers in downtown restaurants and retail or, probably, most Santa Barbarans who do not have dental and other "extra" coverage. To give them such a break on parking would be wrong!

The best part: " The first stage of the Falcon 9 will return to Landing Zone 4 at Vandenberg Space Force Base for landing. Delayed from April, June 2023, April 17 & 24, 2024.", so we should expect the cool (really loud) sounds of the return as well!!! ❌ (mid-day) 🚴

Ya, I'll bet the impact on neighborhood parking will be a real factor in the City's decision, since they don't give a rat's behind now.
