A Three-Course Meal at Rosewood Miramar Beach’s Restaurant Caruso’s
Sounds like someone REALLY enjoyed their meal. That's great. I think it's pretty cool that she can describe it so eloquently. Dining at this level is more of an experience than a meal, I think. If that's something you like, do it!
Santa Barbara Unified School Board Implements Layoffs and Demotions to Save Nearly $2 Million
In the real world, people making the kind of money that those admin people get - they get raises of $3k-$5k per year, not a percentage to match. In fact, I'm not even sure the teacher's union should be aiming for a %. They should make sure that the lowest paid people get a big dollar value raise, roughly equivalent to the higher paid teachers.

Goleta City Facilities Move to 100% Renewable Energy
Renewable, clean energy is not a Republican versus Democrat issue. All of us have contributed to fossil fuel poisoning of the soil, water and sky and continue to do so at alarming rates. So what to do about it? Cities working together to reduce emissions and use clean renewable energy is a great start. Eventually other countries will acquire technology to harness wind, sun and thermal energy, it is after all, cheaper and cleaner in the long run. Why would a country like China want to be known as the number one polluter and suffer with terribly polluted cities, when an affordable alternative exists? They will change to cleaner solutions, and it's going to be entities such as California Cities that wiil be the leaders in this world wide change. Kudos to you Goleta!
Sunspot Solar Max
This increased activity may help explain the Solar Storm that just occurred (strongest in 20 years) and allowed for the Aurora Borealis to be seen from right here in Santa Barbara.
Carbajal Urges President to Uphold Law Regarding Delivery of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza
ALEX - yeah, good point. I guess I considered them "winning" since they've lost tens of thousands of civilians less than Gaza. But you're right, this is NOT going well for them.
Carbajal Urges President to Uphold Law Regarding Delivery of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza
RUBAIYAT - Sorry, but what is your point? You were complaining that no ne is protesting Syria or Vietnam, then I pointing out that MANY did and are and now you're saying that doesn't fix things? What do you want? Your arguments are all over the place and mostly off topic. And yes! Surviving US military leaders who committed war crimes SHOULD be tried. I absolutely agree!
Goleta City Facilities Move to 100% Renewable Energy
STEVE O - "Will they be abandoned? Or buried? Because those are the only two options." - That's absolutely not true at all. Blades are now reaching almost 100% recyclability. If you bothered to do some actual research into the subject you act so "knowledgeable" about, you'd see that. Stop worrying about what China is doing. If China jumped off a bridge, would you? That's really the mentality you're espousing here.
Goleta City Facilities Move to 100% Renewable Energy
So, Steve_O, how about you and some non-dems come up with better long term plans? China is still going to do what they do and sell their products to the rest of the world. What should the US do to protect the environment and stay economically competitive in the process?
Goleta City Facilities Move to 100% Renewable Energy
My point is....the shortsightedness of the lefty libs never ceases to amaze me. They think they are doing something, but they aren't. And then force it on ALL of us making it law. Where will these huge turbines go when they are no longer in use/worn out? Will they be abandoned? Or buried? Because those are the only two options. Not very friendly to the environment. The effort is arbitrary. Like a smoking section in a restaurant. Acting green here by buying and using products made over THERE where they destroy the earth, well I guess it's like every other idea the dems have. It's useless.
Goleta City Facilities Move to 100% Renewable Energy
Your point? Seriously, are you suggesting that we stop trying to reduce our carbon footprint because China doesn't? Re-read the article; it's not even about EV's - it's about wind and solar projects to achieve energy independence. That should stop because China makes EV batteries? Again, what is your point?
Did California’s Massive COVID Homeless Shelter Program Work? A New Evaluation Probes the Results
Wonderful. 40% remaining homeless after means 60% are not! Shelter is step one of solving the homeless crisis. Safe shelter allows folks to focus on and develop other parts of their lives necessary for independent living. Without shelter in this economy, little else is possible. VOTE!
Goleta City Facilities Move to 100% Renewable Energy
These efforts are like stepping over a dollar to pick up a dime. All these forced policies by the left to "go green" in the last 25 years have resulted in just under a 10% drop in emissions in the US. Meanwhile China....who does all the mining and manufacturing of/for these EV batteries and manufactures over a third of the wind turbines in the world...has seen their emissions increase 200+%. AND they are making a fortune selling these products to the US for their attempt at "saving" the planet.

Why not bring up all the women and children murdered elsewhere like Syria today.
Jury Finds Santa Barbara Woman Guilty of Welfare Fraud
There is a child involved who comes from a broken home and now faces the consequences of a parent who has this on their record along with potential incarceration and a sweet dose of public shame. That makes me quite sad tbh. Jeff, one time was enough, and looks like you don’t really know anyway, by the third time I realized that you could be the guy who left the note that he called the cops to give me a parking ticket for the Hummer bumper being two inches in the red. I was GUILTY dead to rights and got away with it! Let’s not forget that every month or two felons (mostly convicted by juries) serving lengthy sentences In the USA are exonerated and released not just for one reason or another - but because they were INNOCENT. So I have some trouble getting righteous over a self serving press release that could be as intent upon fishing out media coverage for the next campaign as much as to put out a public message of deterrence. Also the notion that most of us are law abiding citizens only due to the threat of jail mocks and belies a few millennia of social, religious, and ethical development of the human race. Certainly laws and punishment are part of the equation and may be warranted in this case - I don’t know any more than uh, Jeff, I think. But believe it or not, most people, including many of those in jail, are actually decent human beings. By the same token, there are people who are actually evil, violent, predatory, and dangerous to themselves and others and need to be isolated from public society, incapacitated and safely housed. I think best to balance this kind of news with compassion.
A Three-Course Meal at Rosewood Miramar Beach’s Restaurant Caruso’s
Lofl. If reviews of expensive restaurants “offend” so acutely I assume that the Independent, LA Times, NY Times, Washington Post, New Yorker, etc., are to be avoided due to their baked in “offensiveness” of their reviews. All ridiculousness aside, even people who don’t have lots of money sometimes attend very expensive high quality restaurants for a special occasion, even if they can’t afford it all the time, or can only afford it once their entire life. Reviews like this, gratuitous as they may be give the reader a decent idea of what to expect and can be helpful in making a decision. I hope other grievances aren’t standing in the way of other pleasures. Personally reviews generally don’t cut a mountain of caca with me since I like Del Taco but the wife and kids consider Honor Bar low grade to the point that I drop the kids at the Collection instead of DTSB some Saturdays and then hit Del Taco on Gonzales before heading back and picking the little money grubbers up (after waiting another 3 hours in the parking lot and speculating about Oxnard guys talking to my daughters).
