Why are Local Doctors Charging Monthly Fees?
$600 a year is a fraction of what your healthcare costs. If 600 out of pocket isn't worth it to you then change doctors.

Why are Local Doctors Charging Monthly Fees?
Yeah, sounds like you’re doing concierge? Is that correct? If so, they are essentially free to charge whatever they want. You can take it or leave it. And if so, it looks like you’ve realized you can’t buy your way into healthcare convenience here in SB. Interesting.
Why are Local Doctors Charging Monthly Fees?
Yes, Santa Barbara is expensive, but a lot of us (most of us) are managing on much less than a doctor's salary. What seems to be the biggest problem is doctor's cannot afford the lifestyle they want or feel they deserve here so they look elsewhere to achieve that. Doctors who have their private practice in Santa Barbara are not hurting for cash. They're using this as a way to prioritize their patients for those who have insurance and can afford the extra cash. The rest of us go to Sansum or UCLA Health.

I hope they don't mess with "the Face" rock. Lot of fun memories there at lunch, or beyond, as a teen at SBHS!

Why are Local Doctors Charging Monthly Fees?
Probably several things, all related. 1. We have a shortage of doctors. (Have you SEEN the waitlists for an OB/GYN? Plenty of pregnant women have no choice but to go to Ventura because they cannot be seen by a local OB for MONTHS.) 2. It's too expensive to live here, so we cannot recruit more doctors. 3. Therefore...the existing doctors have too many patients. Try getting an appointment with a primary physician at Sansum in less than a year. And when you DO get an appointment, it's probably only going to be 15 minutes. 4. For doctors who AREN'T part of huge conglomerates - "concierge" fees keep their practices at a reasonable size. You pay your $600 a year, and you can actually get an appointment sooner than a year out. TLDR: not enough/ too expensive housing means not enough doctors...

The entirety of his 2 comments were complaining about China as if that was an excuse for the US to not push forward with this. That's a whatabout and logical fallacy, thus, not "critical thinking" as you praised him for. Further, there was no "analogy" in my comments. I bet you think "China jumping off a bridge" was one, but it's not. It's a rhetorical question that's really a fallacy in itself, but more importantly, it was obviously in jest. Or, are you aware of a bridge large enough for the country of China to jump off? In sum, your comment made no sense.
Op-Ed: Project Disconnect descends upon Old Town
Furthermore, the current State politicians, yes majority Democrats in office now, could move to remove Builders Remedy from state law, ban owner multiple airbnbs similar to Canada. The Governor could also execute a work around order for Builders remember in the mean time. Also move to ban Airbnbs. This would allow for proper planning without negative health and safety impacts to communities or create high density traffic traps .

MIKE920 - yep. The City/County, all municipal leadership around here for that matter, knows exactly what their constituents want but they just pretend to care and then do the exact opposite. Look at the recent zoning of Glen Annie for 1000 new residential units.... They don't give AF what their voters want.

Complete chaos and incompetence! What needs to happen is the Governor needs to execute an executive order to “Stop the housing element mandate”. It is causing the demise of the State of California starting with health and safety, trapping citizens surrounded by high density housing unable to evacuate their communities. Corralling people like cattle in a small area leads to high crime and a drain on the system. https://www.edhat.com/news/santa-barbara-county-board-of-supervisors-selects-sites-for-future-housing/ The Governor also must acknowledge limited resources “ potable water” incapable of “sustaining” the housing element. Long term droughts are here to stay, lasting longer each time with water wars to expand amplified by the housing element The Maya are often viewed as a cautionary tale about climate change - this great civilization collapsed due to drought, high density and war. We need to replace County BOS for “not protecting the health and safety of their constituents” by not enforcing state law which protects agriculture zoned land or enforcing the Public Resources Codes. Contrary to our BoS, Southern California Cities fought and won against developers. County BoS bowed down to greedy developers threatening builders remedy . We do not have a housing shortage. Airbnb's and VRBOs have caused the housing shortage Land lords have moved to profit from Airbnb's and VBRO's because the laws for yearly rentals make it difficult for Land Lords to evict squatters. Canada is moving to ban Airbnb's to increase available housing. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/sean-fraser-airbnb-crackdown-1.7034129#:~:text=Under%20B.C.%27s%20new%20law%2C%20short-term%20rentals%20that%20aren%27t,face%20an%20onerous%20fine%20of%20%243%2C000%20a%20day.

Just so we are clear, the community is unhappy that people are not visiting downtown as much as they used to, the city’s answer “let’s charge people to park”……………brilliant

Excellent! Thank you Tom. Both Santa Barbara and Goleta are heading towards disaster. It's almost like our elected leaders and the members of their hand-picked commissions have never driven or shopped in our communities.
Op-Ed: Project Disconnect descends upon Old Town
This is a very well written op-ed that covers many rational explanations of the problems with the re-striping project. One additional concern I have is the apparent problem with accessing the reverse angled in parking spaces if you are driving in the lane on the other side of the street. I just don't see how this will work.

Wow, SAIL.... that whatabout was so hard, I think I got whiplash? Did you? Might want to go check in with the chiropractor, that was a doozy! Also, I just got paper bags 3 days ago at Trader Joes. So yeah, SAIL, FACTS.

Facts sacjon? Like the scientific facts the government used outlawed paper grocery bags to save the world? Then used facts to force plastic bags on us. Now the fact is the word is completely full of micro plastics. And now we are back to saving the world with paper bags!!
