Seeking a mature, experienced “granny” to help us raise our kids

We are a family of four based in the Riviera in downtown Santa Barbara with two healthy, happy kids aged 18 months and 3.5 years. We parents both work full time and would love for our kids to have the presence of a caring, mature “granny” (e.g. you have or are old enough to have grown children) to support us navigate the day-to-day: managing the kids schedules, feeding, dropoff/pickup from preschool, cooking, keeping the kids’ areas tidy, etc. We hope for this to feel like more than a nanny role – we would love for you to become an extended member of our family and be a long term presence in our kids’ lives. As long as you’re open to the responsibilities, your prior background doesn’t matter to us. You could have worked in childcare, education, or nursing. Maybe you were an office worker. Or perhaps you were never employed but you raised your own now-grown kids. This is your opportunity to support our home, help raise children, and watch two great young human beings grow into the world around them.

Our kids are healthy and happy and have no special behavioral/developmental concerns. They are curious and enjoy playing with toys, doing arts and crafts, and learning about nature. They love to eat and have no dietary restrictions, so it’s great if you love to cook and experiment with new, healthy foods. We are kind people and like to treat the people who help us in our lives well. Our departing nanny, who is moving out of state, says she wishes she could stay (and we wish she could stay too!) and that this is the best job she’s ever had.

Compensation is generous ($40 to $45/hour depending on experience) with PTO and overtime paid at 1.5x. We ask that you be willing to work at least 40 hours a week, but preferably 45 hours (M-F 8am to 5pm), and flexibility on hours is greatly appreciated. We value reliability highly. (If 45 hours a week does not work for you, but you still feel like this is an otherwise great fit, please apply and tell us what your allowable schedule is.) For a 45 hour week, you would earn at least $95,000 per year, but more likely >$100,000.

If you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you. Please reach out and let us know a bit about your experience with kids and why you feel this is a good fit. We encourage those with experience raising their own successful, adult children to apply.

Please submit interest to mia@igsb.com or text to (949) 705-8361.
