St. Mark Preschool is looking for a Full-Time Preschool Director to join our team! St. Mark Preschool’s mission is to encourage discovery through hands-on learning and open-ended play, giving children the freedom to explore. Position Description:
The Preschool Director oversees the St Mark Preschool program which prepares children for a lifetime of learning. This developmentally appropriate, positive, and child-centered preschool program embraces the whole individual in partnership with families. The Preschool Director manages St. Mark Preschool and is responsible for the school’s finances, operations, student enrollment, personnel administration, instruction and curriculum, marketing, communications, classroom safety, and establishing the annual calendar of events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Establishes the annual operating budget, including tuition rates, in conjunction with the Preschool Advisory Council (PAC)
-Responsible for managing all Preschool finances and expenditures within the approved operating budget, overseeing payroll administration and preparation of Preschool financial reports with the Preschool’s bookkeeper
-Prepares purchase requisitions and orders supplies, training material and other items
-Maintains accreditation standards according to NAEYC and Community Care licensing requirements as outlined and described in the Title 22 manual, including health and safety protocols
-Establishes procedures for student pre-registration and enrollment requirements, class sizes and staffing requirements
-Prepares job descriptions for Preschool staff and collaborates with the PAC on staffing requirements, hiring, and other personnel needs and issues
-Manages communications with PAC and other stakeholders including the parent, church and other Preschool communities
-Establishes program objectives for the Preschool Staff, runs regular staff meetings and planning sessions
-Conducts annual performance reviews for the Preschool Staff and makes salary recommendations to PAC.
-Establishes certification and training requirements for the Preschool Staff, and provides for the necessary training
-Establishes curriculum aligned with the St. Mark Core Purpose Statement, in conjunction with lead teachers and PAC
-Substitutes in classrooms when needed
-Prepares advertisements, brochures and other marketing material
-Introduces new and potential parents to the Preschool program through meetings and tours of the facility
-Establishes and maintains an annual calendar of events and regularly attends PAC meetings
-Communicates any property improvement plans to PAC and Trustees for approval before implementation
-All other duties as required.
About St. Mark Preschool
We are an inclusive non-profit 501(c)3 organization that respects and values all family lifestyles, religious beliefs, and cultural backgrounds. St. Mark Preschool is an NAEYC accredited program that provides a high-quality experience for young children, ages 12 months to five years old. We offer full and partial day programs and are licensed for 88 students with a dedicated staff of 18 employees who have ECE training units. Currently there are 8 classrooms with a total of ~70 students. St. Mark Preschool was founded 54 years ago by St. Mark United Methodist Church, remains under the auspices of the church, and is responsible to the Preschool Advisory Council (PAC).
Job Requirements
Experience/ Certifications
A degree in early childhood education or equivalent experience
Experience in a position with similar responsibilities, including management of staff
Working knowledge of budgets and financial management
Enrollment in Criminal History Registry
Certificate of completion of Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Class
CPR and First Aid certification
General Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, proven leadership ability working in a team environment and resolving conflicts, ability to prioritize, organize and follow-up; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of parent and staff information; enthusiastic about early childhood education.
Technical Skills
PC/MAC computers and associated software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint
General office equipment including but not limited to copier/scanner, printer
(Preferred) Experience using/ ability to learn Procare, Quickbooks, Google Drive
(Preferred) Experience working in an NAEYC accredited program and Grant Writing
Work Environment and other Considerations:
General office and classroom environment
Flexibility to work as needed to meet classroom schedules and preschool deadlines
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds to lift children and handle supplies
Ability to travel to classes and other preschool related meetings and activities
Willingness to continue taking training classes to enhance job performance
Compensation:
~$63K+ depending on experience
