The Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee Issues DACA Support Statement

Today, in one of the most heartless moves yet of this heartless administration, President Trump has rescinded DACA. 800,000 of our sisters and brothers are facing an uncertain future as their fate is now in the hands of Congress.

We strongly condemn the President’s actions which go against all our values. We are committed to fight every step of the way with our community partners to ensure that our DACA youth are protected. For, without them, our community is not complete and our future is diminished.

The Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee supports the creation of a path to citizenship. DACA recipients and their family members have been contributing to their communities, working, and paying taxes. We value and need what the DACA “Dreamers” contribute to our culture and greater society as doctors, teachers, students, members of our military, community volunteers, entrepreneurs, artists and more all across our nation. As much as our economy will suffer with the loss of our DACA recipients, our reputation as a caring and generous nation will be put in jeopardy as other nations wonder if the meaning of America’s Statue of Liberty has lost all meaning. We think not! The Whole World Is Watching!! The Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee supports DACA unequivocally.
