The California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC), in coordination with the Resource Recovery and Waste Management Division of Santa Barbara County, Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce, and MarBorg Industries, will host a Textile Recycling Workshop this April! This first-of-its-kind workshop is funded by CalRecycle’s Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) Program.

CPSC is currently looking for groups to get involved with the day-long workshop, full of learning and networking. Secondhand stores, vintage collectors, environmental groups, textile artists, clothing companies, seamstresses and tailors, linen services, and members of the general public are all welcome to attend or exhibit for FREE. Each of us rely on textiles in our daily lives and create textile waste in one form or another. The Santa Brabara region thrives with sustainable fashion brands, organizations, and retailers. This workshop will educate on sources of textile waste, and global solutions. Textile repair, redesign, and recycling business from all over the world will exhibit side-by-side with textile businesses from the Santa Barbara region. It’s time to enjoy a day of eco-optimism celebrating businesses addressing textile pollution!

The workshop aims to expand responsible textile recovery in Santa Barbara County by exploring partnerships, feedstocks, and local service opportunities for textile reuse, repair, and recycling. Invitees will be educated about textile repair and recycling opportunities and how the RMDZ loan program and other funding available will incentivize textile recovery in California.

If your business would like to table at this event, participate as an attendee, or support the event, please reach out! There are many ways to be involved. CPSC is looking for sponsorships to help create a successful event. Sponsors will be recognized with free advertising and showcasing at the event.

If you can donate funds, food and beverages, photography/videography, or networking space before or after the event, please contact Joanne Brasch at (916) 597-3972 or Joanne@calpsc.org. All donations are tax deductible. Those who are interested in attending the event as a guest, speaking at the event, or having their business or organization table at the event should also contact Joanne Brasch.

The California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC) is a nonprofit organization that represents a network of local governments, non-governmental organizations, businesses and individuals that support producer responsibility for end-of-life product management. CPSC educates public and private sectors about product stewardship; promotes and encourages sustainable practices by partnering with businesses, jurisdictions, waste and recycling companies, manufacturers and others; and recognizes companies that are leaders in waste reduction.
