Anna Miller, Chief Operating Officer of People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH), has been accepted into the prestigious NeighborWorks Achieving Excellence Program provided in collaboration with Harvard University.
Taking place over a 16-month period, the NeighborWorks Achieving Excellence Program is an opportunity for leaders in affordable housing to transform their organization for greater impact. Joining a cohort of 50 top professionals from across the nation, the program helps address -most critical organizational challenges. Miller will receive support and accountability through one-on-one executive coaching, cutting-edge leadership curriculum from Harvard University, and facilitated peer group consultation.

The organizational challenge addressed through Miller’s participation is focused on the sustainability of the PSHH Supportive Housing Program. To meet the needs of over 5,000 residents, the Supportive Housing Program combines compassionate property management with service-enriched housing through free, confidential, clinical case management and onsite care in three counties. To meet additional demand, PSHH partners with over 70 area agencies, which connects community members to local resources and area wellness programs. These partnerships include health screenings, counseling, mental health support, food distribution, rental assistance, wellness seminars, and more.
Although the Supportive Housing Program is vital to the success of residents, it does not have identifiable, ongoing funding and has remained programmatically largely unchanged since its inception over 20 years ago. The Achieving Excellence program will help Miller and the Supportive Housing team redesign and transition to a sustainable model while continuing to provide services that align with resident needs.
The Achieving Excellence Program is provided by NeighborWorks America, a congressionally chartered and funded nonpartisan nonprofit that supports over 250 nonprofit organizations who provide affordable housing, financial counseling, lending, and resident engagement. They work through partnerships, public and private, to drive change at the local level for individuals, families, and communities. People’s Self-Help Housing has been a chartered member of the NeighborWorks network since 2012, where they hold the highest level ‘Exemplary’ rating for exceptional management of program services, financial oversight, organizational management, and board governance.
