After spending the last four months taking yoga to a virtual-only platform, we are open (practicing social distanced) for group yoga classes, private sessions and continuing in the virtual world. When COVID19 hit, Power of Your Om closed their studio doors and made an overnight pivot to an online platform 24 for yoga and meditation classes. They offered free membership to anyone who had been laid off and had generous community members step up and pay for memberships for anyone who couldn’t afford classes.
“We are on a mission to offer up everyone and anyone willing, the opportunity to wake up to their lives in a bolder and bigger way, to disrupt limiting beliefs about what is possible and step into our/your/their fullest potential.” And they are doing it! Students from Japan, Hawaii, Australia and New York City joined them daily for yoga classes over the past 4 months. “I even had my roommate from college take classes with us while she was cooped up in her apartment in New York City after being furloughed from her job in the hospitality industry. It has been incredible to share our joy-filled and challenging yoga and meditation classes with people all over the world.”
During the last 4 months, Power of Your Om, also known as PoYO, innovated and encouraged clients to participate in yoga and meditation challenges, they co-led a 40 Days to Personal Revolution Program with the Baptiste Institute with nearly 1900 participants from around the globe, graduated a new class of yoga teachers, led cooking classes with a SB favorite restaurant Jane, bought gift cards from local patisserie Renaud’s to share with challenge finishers, and partnered with RiseUp Fitness to create a Yoga and HIIT combo to continually be in the work of supporting our community to step up into their fullest potential. “I didn’t know we could do all this virtually! What a swift kick into high gear!”
Power of Your Om reopened outdoors in Victoria Courtyard on June 12th and their indoor studio on June 19th, excited to bring people together in community again. “We’ve created a completely touch-less system to ease worries about transferring the asymptomatic COVID19 disease.” Students arrive wearing masks, the teacher checks everyone’s temperature and screens them for their current health. The studio used to fit 49 at max capacity and now we allow room for 11 people socially distanced. “We even transformed our lobby into a studio to create space for more people to practice with us.”
Power of Your Om is a Baptiste Power Yoga Studio, woman-owned, local business. We employ 17 people, have had over 91 people complete our yoga certification and had over 12,000 people step practice yoga with us during our almost 9 years we’ve been in Santa Barbara. We currently offer 24 in person (socially distanced) yoga classes, 31 livestream classes, 100s of recorded sessions and appointment based private sessions.
