People’s Self-Help Housing receives $540,000 grant from NeighborWorks America

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Central Coast, CA, March 22, 2021 – People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH) has received an extraordinary gift of over $540,000 from NeighborWorks America. This incredible funding will support PSHH in their mission of building affordable homes and providing site-based services throughout the Central Coast.

“We are so grateful to NeighborWorks for their sustained support in moving our mission forward,” said PSHH CEO & President Ken Trigueiro, “This gift will allow us to continue to build affordable housing and support our neighbors throughout the Central Coast.”

“People’s Self-Help Housing provides an invaluable service to our community,” said US Congressman Salud Carbajal. Carbajal is the representative of the California 24th District, which is comprised of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, and a portion of Ventura County. “I believe that creating spaces for people to call home is a fundamental part of our society. PSHH has been dedicated to creating real solutions to the affordable housing crisis in our community for decades. Gifts like this allow them to continue their hard work in directly confronting and solving these issues and assuring our neighbors experience a greater quality of life.”

NeighborWorks America creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives, and strengthen their communities. As a congressionally chartered and funded nonpartisan nonprofit, they support organizations that provide communities with affordable housing, financial counseling and coaching, training, and resident engagement, and collaboration in the areas of health, employment, and education.

People’s Self-Help Housing is a chartered member of the NeighborWorks network and retains an ‘Exemplary’ rating, an important metric which ensures accountability to Congress, the Office of Management and Budget, funders, and taxpayers for the allocation of grant funds. The scale of this gift from NeighborWorks America is entirely due to the trust and capacity ensured by the ‘Exemplary’ rating, which PSHH has attained every year since joining the network in 2012.
