Bluewater Hunter is excited to announce the expansion of its current products and services to saltwater fishing targeting local species such as rockfish, white sea bass, halibut to BlueFin Tuna .
Jethro Acosta has teamed up with Owen Scheid to bring a comprehensive full service fishing store at the Santa Barbara Harbor. We will offer a full selection of saltwater fishing gear from custom rod wrapping and repair to the most sought after fishing gear in the industry. Here is a small selection of the vendors: Daiwa, Seeker, Big Hammer, Izerline, Tady Lures, Hook up bates, Owner Hooks, Goldstar, War Baits, Kicker Jig and fresh frozen bait (anchovies, sardines, squid and muscles).
Owen Scheid, founder of Steady Drift Rod, custom rod manufacturer, was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. He brings 25 years of knowledge fishing local and offshore waters up and down the West Coast. Fishing now has become a passion with building custom rods and building Steady Drift.
Jethro Acosta, an avid diver and ocean lover, purchased Bluewater Hunter in October of 2019. He has been Scuba and freediving the Channel Islands for over 35 years. His passion for nature and the ocean has fueled his motivation to build the diving and now fishing communities in Santa Barbara. Jethro started his ocean-oriented career working on Trilogy Excursions in Maui, where he would teach guests, many who were seeing the ocean for the first time, how to snorkel in the tide pools of Hulopoʻe Beach in Lania. After many career twists and turns he decided to put his business degree to work and combine it with hi passion for diving and fishing and you can find him with a big smile on his face at Bluewater Hunter ready to get you geared up and ready to go
