The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) has announced that long-time friend and supporter Fred Brander will receive the CADA Champion Award at this year’s Amethyst Ball.
Mr. Brander first became involved with CADA over 20 years ago. Since then, Mr. Brander along with the Brander Family Foundation has provided generous, ongoing support to the agency’s Youth & Family, and Adult Treatment programs.
Mr. Brander is the owner and general manager of The Brander Vineyard in Santa Ynez.
“We are absolutely thrilled to honor Fred with the 2023 CADA Champion Award,” said Catherine Remak, CADA Director of Development. “Each year, we identify a donor whose exceptionally generous support enables CADA to provide thousands of local children, teens and families with the education, intervention and recovery programs that help put their lives back on track. Fred is truly a Champion in that regard, assisting us in so many ways to deliver the programs and services that change and save lives in our community, making it a healthier and more vibrant home for everyone.
“We deeply appreciate Fred’s friendship and his unwavering commitment to CADA and the many people who need our help. I cannot think of another member of our community more deserving of this recognition as CADA celebrates its 74th year of service to Santa Barbara County.”
CADA’s 2023 Amethyst Ball is a tradition dating back 36 years and was Santa Barbara’s first-ever Gala. It will be held Friday, September 29, 5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the fabulous Santa Barbara Historical Museum. This year’s theme, The Great Gatsby Getaway, will transport guests to the Roaring 20s, a decade of avant-garde music, parties, entertainment, fashion, fun and romance. The elegant, must-attend evening of music and magic under the stars will include an extraordinary culinary and beverage experience.
