Family Service Agency (FSA) of Santa Barbara County announces Robin Doell-Sawaske and Terri Zuniga as co-presidents for its 2019-2020 Board of Directors. The full slate of officers also includes Jane Santos Sweeney, Vice President of Programs; Marni Cooney and Ed Galanski, Co-Vice Presidents of Development; Molly Carrillo-Walker and Rod Durham, Co-Treasurers; and Tricia Price, Secretary.
“We are excited to welcome Robin and Terri as our new co-presidents,” said FSA Executive Director Lisa Brabo. “Their expertise in education and community service, combined with that of the rest of the board, will be tremendous assets to our agency.”
A Santa Maria resident of 50 years, Terri Zuniga has dedicated her life to public service. She is currently the Supervisor for the District Attorney’s office Victim Witness Program and was a Santa Maria City Councilmember from 2012 to 2016.
Terri was previously Program Director for Domestic Violence Solutions, where she worked to rebuild families and protect abused women and their children. Terri also serves on the Board of Directors for Central Coast Literacy Council, SBC Housing Authority SURF Board, SERVE Santa Maria, SEIU Local 620, and Altrusa International Golden Valley Foundation.
Terri served as Co-President of FSA’s Board of Directors last year and she was a member of the Board of Directors for the Santa Maria Valley Youth & Family Center when it merged with FSA in July 2017.
Robin Doell-Sawaske began her extensive career in education as a teacher and then as Principal of Carpinteria Middle School. She also worked for Santa Barbara County Education Office as Director of Teacher Programs, Director of Program Delivery for the California School Leadership Academy, and Administrator of Curriculum and Instruction. In 2005, Robin transitioned to the Santa Barbara Unified School District, retiring in 2012 as Associate Superintendent of Education.
In addition to various professional organizations, Robin has served as a Fighting Back Task Force member for the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and as a board member for Carpinteria Girls Incorporated, Carpinteria Education Foundation, and Incredible Children’s Art Network.
Family Service Agency (FSA)-Santa Maria Valley Youth & Family Center is a nonprofit social service organization that has served Santa Barbara County since 1899.
