By Considered Coffee
Considered coffee launches January 2023 to serve espresso-based drinks out of a vintage VW Bus — with a goal to make every customer feel considered.
Every person deserves to feel considered — this is the belief that grounds our new coffee concept in something more meaningful than what’s in your cup.
It’s easy to take your favorite morning beverage for granted. Many of us (myself included) have, at some time, slurped down as much caffeine as possible to get going.
We’ve habitualized to-go orders and fueling our afternoon slump. We’ve embraced the variances our names take on when written on the side of a cup. We’ve lost the joy of lingering. And we’ve settled for anonymity and average interactions.
But if we look closely at cafe culture, we see a container that holds a place in most peoples’ daily routine — with the staying power to serve a bigger purpose.
Here’s the truth: We love coffee. It might be our one true love. More than that, what drives us is the desire to consume things that are truly exceptional. That make us feel seen and understood in all our utter humanness. That make us wonder, why aren’t more people doing it like this?
A mobile coffee concept serving Santa Barbara, on a mission to hold reverent the user experience.
Over the past 5 months, my team and I have been hard at work converting a vintage VW Bus into a full service cafe. With only 80 sqft to work with, we set out to make a big impact, on a micro scale. Here’s how we’re doing it:
Off grid
We’re solar-powered and generator supplemented, which means we can set up just about anywhere, as long as we can drive there.
Leave no trace
We pack in and pack out like pros — you won’t even know we were there! Taking care of you means taking care of the trash too.
Logistics = love language
We’re bringing our consulting background to coffee, with sexy logistics + spreadsheets to boot! We’re known for the nuances that make everything feel thought-through.
For causes we care about
From paying our staff a living wage, to no upcharge for alternative milks and repurposing our pucks, we feel strongly about social issues, and we’re built to better the world.
Industry exiles
Our woman-identifying leadership team hails from hospitality, marketing, and more — which means we plan from all perspectives, and we’re bringing better business practices to F/B.
Price transparency
Our pricing is inclusive of sales tax and gratuity, which means what you see is what you pay. We’re honest about what we do (and don’t!) mark up, and we custom quote every event.
As we near our debut — having navigated the complexities of the health department, replaced 65 year old window seals, supported as many woman- and locally-owned businesses as possible, and reworked tired Food + Beverage business models to make more sense — we’re coming back to what matters most: we all want to be seen, understood, and known. Coffee just happens to be our vehicle of choice for creating a more connected community.
We look forward to making a memorable mark on your day, and we can’t wait to serve you on your favorite strip of Santa Barbara sidewalk.
