CASA SERENA TREATMENT PROGRAMS FOR WOMEN RECEIVES JOINT COMMISSION ACCREDITATION AND MARKS 60TH ANNIVERSARY

Casa Serena, the longest-serving, non-profit residential treatment program for women challenged by addiction and related mental health diagnoses, recently received accreditation by the Joint Commission (jointcommission.org). This accreditation provides patients, families, referral sources, and insurance companies with assurance that the highest standards of care and outcomes are being achieved.

“For a nonprofit treatment center that relies primarily on community and foundation support, receiving this national accreditation allows us to serve more women, children and families because we can now accept health insurance,” says Casa Serena’s Executive Director, Lisette Fraser.

Casa Serena is the only treatment facility and step-down addiction program in the Santa Barbara community that focuses exclusively on women and their families, including mothers facing the hard issues that their disease has brought upon their children. Some of the evidence-based treatment modalities offered at Casa Serena include: individual and family therapy, cognitive and dialectical behavior therapy, trauma and resiliency skill-building, along with social model principles such as a job readiness program, and gardening and cooking experience. Casa Serena’s published success rate is higher than the national average, a success it attributes to its depth of experience and its holistic and comprehensive approach to all aspects of addiction treatment, and this success rate was instrumental in it receiving accreditation.

This year, Casa Serena celebrates sixty years in business. The organization has grown to two large homes serving up to 29 women at a time. Admissions to the Casa Serena facilities come from both within and outside the Santa Barbara community.

Casa Serena will commemorate its 60th birthday at its annual educational and fund-raising event on October 4th, at the Rosewood Miramar Beach.
