Update by Santa Barbara City Fire Department
Santa Barbara City Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle into a structure on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 1:15 pm. The vehicle, a white two-door sedan driven by an elderly driver drove over a concrete parking stop and crashed into “POSH” a jewelry store, in the Loreto Plaza Shopping Center. Santa Barbara City Firefighters reported that the vehicle had collided with the front wall of the business and caused minor damage. An off-duty Firefighter was having lunch on the patio seated approximately 10 feet from the vehicle’s path of travel.
Once the vehicle stopped he assessed the driver and passenger and found neither occupant received injuries. Despite all of the pedestrians, no injuries were reported. The initial response from City Fire included a fire engine company and a ladder truck and heavy rescue vehicle for possible building stabilization. The incident was managed with a single engine company and additional resources were canceled.
Santa Barbara Police are investigating the cause of the accident. The Santa Barbara City Fire Department would like to remind everyone to always wear your seatbelts and be familiar with the vehicle you are driving. Accidents do happen and seatbelts save lives.

A vehicle crashed into a building, I believe I heard that the accident is in the 3000 block of State St.
Sounds like…”I just left Harry’s!” to me.
Who puts their car in neutral these days? Anyone? Just saying…
Don’t you just hate it when buildings jump in front of you? Sometimes trees, mail boxes and telephone poles do that too. Can’t trust anything.
Sorry! I lost my concentration, thought you posted without reading the article. My bad.
