The new Target store location on La Cumbre will be delayed until the Spring of 2019.
In January, the Target Corporation announced it would take over the former Galleria location at the corner of La Cumbre and State Street to create a “small format” store. The company quickly began construction and stated a plan to open in October 2018.
The opening date for the 34,000 square foot store has now been pushed back for at least six months, reports KEYT News.
George Buell, Community Development Director for the City of Santa Barbara, stated to KEYT there was a delay in the fabrication and delivery of the store’s elevators and escalators, but the remodeling is going smoothly.
The store is now expected to open in April of 2019.
The Target Corporation is also expected to open a Goleta location in 2019 in the former home of Kmart, which closes this month.
