Las Positas Road Safety Restriping Project

Source: City of Santa Barbara

The City of Santa Barbara announces the first project of the Vision Zero Strategy. The Strategy’s goal is to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries in the City while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility for all.

The Las Positas Road Safety Restriping Project will eliminate a known collision pattern on Las Positas Road between McCaw Avenue and Alegria Road. In this corridor, approximately 15 collisions occur every five years, causing injury to about 15 Santa Barbarans. These collisions can be prevented by adding a dedicated left-turn lane on Las Positas Road. The Project would convert one southbound lane into a center lane for left-turning movements between McCaw Avenue and Alegria Road. The northbound side would remain two lanes.

To find out more about how this Project can reduce collisions, save lives, and prevent severe injuries while minimizing traffic congestion, attend a community meeting on Wednesday, November 7, at 6 p.m. in the Mountain Room at the Samarkand Retirement Community.
