Tick alert for Skofield Park and Rattlesnake Canyon! My dogs were covered in small ticks after a day up here. I used a comb afterward to try and get them all off, but they are so small.

Much as I loathe insecticides it is a good idea to spray down your animals in this season. There are lots of “natural” animal sprays that will repel ticks and it is a lot easier to have them not land at all than to remove them later.
And here’s where I come in: most fly repellents used on horses also repel ticks (and many many other bugs as well) AND are marked as safe to use on dogs. Jedlickas has a good selection of this stuff. Just read the label on the back to double check for ticks and dogs and you’re good to go!
Anyone spraying their dogs with insecticides doesn’t deserve to have a dog.
