Sunset before the Blood moon. Flying by SB last night…

A few of us went out in the street to look when the clouds briefly parted, and it was a shared delight.

Here’s a shot of last night’s eclipse taken from the mesa, looking down on SB and up to the sky.

These are some of the pictures I took of the Super Wolf Blood Moon last night here in Santa Barbara with my Lumix g85. What a sight to see; it was very beautiful!

I am a member of the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit, and we do about 230 public outreaches a year.
On Sunday, 20 January 2019, we had nine telescopes at the Camino Real Marketplace Plaza to view the lunar eclipse. About 300 members of the public looked through one, or more, of our telescopes. Many great questions were asked (and answered).
I had both an 8″ Celestron telescope set up for visual viewing and took handheld pictures with a Nikon D500 camera and 200-500 mm lens.

This photo of tonight’s “Super Blood Moon” (total lunar eclipse of a super moon) was taken while enjoying Bloody Marys and listening to Dark Side of the Moon. Shout out to Pink Floyd and Santa Barbara local Alan Parsons for the tunes plus MacPuzl for mentioning the eclipse in his 1/19/19 “Late January ISS” post.
Fantastical, supernatural. I love the time-lapse string of moons shot. Thank you ever so much for sharing. (Wish I had known to take a look. So out of it.)
Thank you Sophie, John, Michael, and Max! Beautiful photos!
Great photos!
Beautiful pictures Thank You….
Thanks to all of you for the pics. And the after-the-fact camaraderie. It was an incredible evening and a lot of fun!
