Why the long security wait to get into Bill Maher?

By an edhat reader

We’ve been to many events at the Arlington, even sold out ones, but the Bill Maher event was strange.

Showing up 15 minutes prior to the concert, we found a line snaking around the corner. The security checkpoint at the door was apparently the bottleneck. We didn’t get to our seats until about 8:30, almost 45 minutes in line, and at least 15 minutes after the concert had started. Does anyone know why there was so much security?

  1. The wait is because he’s a hypocrite and sells off his bland-humor that’s repetitive and dull. Without Trump and he’s got no show. It rides over all of his guests and over-packs each segment to keep people chasing. You waited because he and they and all comedians do not want you recording what they repeat ad-nauseam day after day. That any of you buy his crap about owning guns but… Is nothing more than proof in the pudding. Take a hit Bill, your star is fading. Time to fade out stoned out of your mind.

  2. He gets a lot of death threats, and is teams just want to make sure that he is safe from anyone who would want to do him harm. He has full-time body guards at home, and whenever he is in public (I’m assuming that they are “armed”). I don’t agree that he does not want to afford us the same right to protect ourselves, family, and home. He is quoted as saying, that “…..he has “two guns. They’re for protection. We live in a gun country, even Los Angeles. I’m not expecting anything to happen, but I want to be ready for it. So I have a lot of security measures at my house. If somebody gets into my bedroom, wow, they really did a lot to get there. They got past gates, bodyguards, dogs. If I have to shoot somebody in my bedroom, that was a commando raid on par with the SEALs getting Bin Laden. My gun is my last line of defense.” He also added that he’s not a “gun nut” because he does not “love” his guns. He is protected by guns 24/7/365, yet the rest of us are “nuts.” On a side note, Hillary has not ruled out running in 2020, so there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
