With the damaged section of San Marcos Pass, (3500 SR 154 ) under repair for another month, cars heading out of the Santa Ynez Valley on Highway 246 are adding to traffic through the popular area. Some businesses, however, are seeing an increase due to the new flow of residents and visitors coming by. They include gas stations, fast food stops, and coffee shops.

A couple of generations ago, the norm was that you shopped and worked near where you lived. A side benefit was that everybody knew everybody. (For teenagers, that was also a drawback: Your parents knew what you were up to before you even got home.)
Big backup on the northbound 101 on Sunday from people trying to exit on the 246. At 11 am was it casino or danish traffic? I wonder if the wild animals on the 154 are enjoying the vacation they are having? Maybe they will block up some more culverts in the future if they figure out how to do it.
