Local Toastmasters Competition Attracts a Crowd

Members of Toastmasters area clubs met at Log Me In Cafe, 7414 Hollister Ave in Goleta on Saturday, February 23rd for a lively competition to win awards in the International Awards and Tall Tales Awards categories. A large group attended the early morning event to give their best pitch for award consideration. 

This year’s winners in the International Contest were Al Gibson, Mission Chapter Toastmasters, Joy Kelly, Santa Barbara Toastmasters Club 5, and Patricia Dorio, Whitehatters Ovation Toastmasters. The Tall Tales Contest winners included Vinita, GoToToastmasters, Shannon Miller, Santa Barbara Toastmasters Club 5, and Emily Yurcheshen, Unity Toastmasters. 

Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Headquartered in Englewood, Colo., the organization’s membership exceeds 357,000 in more than 16,600 clubs in 143 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders.
