The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office determined the sighting claims of Scottish fugitive “Kim Gordon” in Santa Barbara County were unfounded.
On Monday, the Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls reporting possible sightings of Gordon in the Santa Ynez and Lompoc Valleys.
Gordon is wanted in Scotland for rape and sexual assault. He failed to appear for a March 11 court appearance in Scotland for 24 rape charges. He reportedly went missing in Monterey County earlier this month and Monterey law enforcement believes he may have faked his own death and is still on the Central Coast. It’s unknown if Gordon has committed a crime in the United States, and it’s unconfirmed if he faked his death.
The Lompoc Police Department reported a Buellton resident said she saw him Friday. The person said she was at home when a man who looked like Gordon knocked on her door and offered to do asphalt work. “Gordon was adamant the resident come out to his truck to get a business card and was upset and angry when she told him no and he left,” according to the press release. The man reportedly returned the next day to again offer his services.
San Luis Obispo County received similar “sightings” shortly after Gordon’s disappearance only to find the man reported as Kim Gordon was merely a handy-man soliciting work.
On Monday, Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Deputies investigated each reported sighting, including reviewing video surveillance, only to determine that the reported sightings were not Kim Gordon. It is possible that the same handy-man soliciting service in San Luis Obispo County is also soliciting work here.
The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office determined there have been no credible sightings of Kim Gordon in the Santa Ynez or Lompoc Valley’s, and there is no credible information that fugitive Kim Gordon is soliciting handy-man work door to door.
Gordon is described as 5-feet-11-inches tall. He weighs about 200 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen driving a white Ford F-150.

The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the public to be diligent and cautious when approached at home or in public by persons soliciting work, or whom you do not know. If you are in need of work, seek assistance from a licensed contractor. The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office takes all reports of suspicious persons seriously and states they will continue to investigate any reported sightings of Gordon or the man soliciting home-repair services.
What’s with the religious symbol on his headband? Is he wearing it as a joke, an effort to make his actions attribute to them?
