Man Arrested for Prowling Orcutt’s Goodwill Store

On 3-25-2019 just before 11:00 p.m., a Deputy assigned to the Santa Maria Station was on patrol near the Goodwill Store on Orcutt Rd and saw a subject prowling at the rear of the closed business. Despite an attempt to evade the Deputy, the subject was contacted and detained.

During the investigation, the suspect provided false information as to his identity and was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a stun gun. The subject was also unable to provide information as to where he obtained a motorized scooter he was in possession of and it was booked for safekeeping.

The suspect, identified as 58-year old John Elic Wood of Santa Maria was arrested, transported and booked into the Santa Barbara Main Jail on charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, False Representation to a Peace Officer, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Stun Gun, and Prowling with a bail of $15,000.

Wood was also found to have 3 outstanding warrants for various Vehicle Code and Drug charges totaling $35,000.
