By Greg

During this time of graduation celebrations, what teacher or school employee in your Santa Barbara education experience from pre-school to grad school do you especially remember with gratitude?

  1. Ann Scales and Dorothy Brubeck, both fabulous English teachers. And Mr. Crist, in American Government and Politics, taught about government structures and functions – thus contributing daily to my current dismay.

  2. My favorite was Sister Vincent de Paul at Mt. Carmel school, had her for 8th grade. When I saw her at our 50th anniversary celebration (1994) for the school she was in regular street clothes (no habit) because the Immaculate Heart Community of nuns were secular. Her name was Liz Mahoney; she said, “Call me Liz, Miss Mahoney sounds like an old maid.”
