A major injury collision occurred this afternoon on West Camino Cielo west of SR-154. A white Toyota Sienna [driven by Jason Laskay, 76, of Santa Barbara] was traveling eastbound and for unknown reasons veered off the roadway. The vehicle traveled approximately 200 feet down an embankment.
The California Highway Patrol, Santa Barbara County Fire Department, US Forest Service, and American Medical Response, responded to the collision scene. The driver of the Toyota was ejected from his vehicle. He was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries.
The circumstances of the collision are currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. West Camino Cielo remained opened during this investigation but traffic was impacted for approximately one hour.
A vehicle crashed over the side of the roadway at West Camino Cielo and Kinevan near Highway 154. A subject from the vehicle was ejected and has suffered major injuries.
Getting ejected usually means not wearing a seat belt. Hope this man has no permanent injuries.
