The bicyclists need to start using the Cota bike lane….it was made just for them. The City eliminated lot’s & lot’s of street parking, just so the bicyclists can ride safely !!! But, wait….. I can’t say I’ve seen more than a couple bicycles using that bike lane over all the times I’ve driven down that street !!
Zero: You are soooooo correct. However, cyclists need to protect themselves by stopping at all Stop signs, staying out of the middle of the road, riding single-file, be aware of all traffic around you, and most importantly, stay as far to the right as possible to reduce the chance of getting hit. Drivers have nothing to lose, especially when they are behind the wheel of a useless 3-ton SUV, but cyclists riding mindlessly down the lane have everything to lose….and it happens each and every day. Stay safe and follow the rules my cyclist friends.
Insane that 60 parking spaces on Cota were removed for a bike lane no one uses.
Take out all the street trees and sidewalks, underground all the overhead wiring and recreate real bike lanes, replant the trees and narrow the sidewalks and install lower pedestrian street lighting. That is how we become a safe biking town. Better than the millions of dollars we waste on other city sponsored activities that don’t benefit the majority of city taxa-paying residents.
