A brush fire burned nearly two acres on Jalama Road Sunday afternoon.
Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the scene at 2:59 p.m., six miles from Highway 1 near Lompoc on Jalama Road and discovered two to three acres of brush on fire making a run up the hillside.
Helicopters made water drops while ground firefighters on the flanks made progress against the fire.
Around 4:00 p.m., Incident Command reported forward progress of the fire had stopped with 10% containment of the slope driven fire. The fixed-wing aircraft was cancelled as one helicopter continued making water drops and a hand crew cut a line around the fire.
After walking the fire perimeter with a GPS, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department reduced acreage to 1.92 acres.
The fire is currently 100% contained.

Kern Co. not really relevant to this.
It could be relevant if you are a blue collar Central Valley guy having to haul your 5th Wheel RV thru Kern and San Luis counties to get to your pricey reserved spot at Jalama so the Missus and the Kiddies can waddle in the waves and have a Jalama Burger and fries for lunch.
What is causing this rash of small fires? Can’t be lightning bugs–are the “firebugs” out?
Honestly, what’s the point of downvoting Roger for his reports?
Actually not Parvo. If one was coming from either SLO or Kern to Jalama they would not be going anywhere near Apache Cyn. Maybe you should learn how to read a map prior to your trolling. And up votes for MM’s irrelevance and trolls, ya’ll obviously don’t want me helping when Roger can’t hear the other channels. So no problemo..see ya.
W/ Jalapeño and a side of sand in your toes!!
