We woke up [Friday] morning to find that something had happened in our kitchen. We realized it was a bear, so I grabbed my shotgun for defense and scoured the house. We thought if he got in, that he was sleeping somewhere in the house. Finding no bear, we surveyed the damage. The bear knocked over the coffee maker and several other items, but either he lost interest, or he was too big to fit into the window.
By the way, the window screen was not damaged. He knew to push it in on the edges. Also, our doors were open, so he could have walked right in through any one of the screen doors. The window is damaged, but otherwise, all. is well.
How do you know for sure it was a bear and not a human?
What part of town was this in? That’s kind of important.
Let this be a lesson: get a cartridge-type coffee machine and leave it loaded with a big cup nearby. Maybe leave a pint of half-and-half out too.
I think a bear would be less scary than if it was a human. Whatever, glad you are safe.
Keep that shotgun handy because that bear will be back. If confronted, aim for the face/eyes.
Really clean for a bear they tend to be snotty so looks like a racoon maybe just bang to skillets together and don’t try to shoot the bear you will make it mad and it will not die when you miss cause you were shaking good luck
“raccoon” “too”
Haha. Oops. “two”.
